KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – The Kettering School Board is expected to formally choose the next superintendent for the district.

The board will vote tonight to hire Scott Inskeep effective September 1.

Inskeep comes to Kettering from the Reading Community Schools.

“The Board of Education is extremely pleased that Mr. Inskeep will be joining the Kettering Schools as our new superintendent,” said George Bayless, president of the Kettering Board of Education. “After numerous conversations with him, the Board is confident that Mr. Inskeep has the right combination of strong leadership and communication skills needed to move the district forward after the challenges we have faced over the past several months.”

Inskeep is expected to attend Tuesday night’s meeting that begins at 6:00 p.m.

He takes over for Jim Schoenlein who resigned under fire over a rocky relationship with the district treasurer and questions about his handling of levy issues.  The treasurer, Jim Clark, also resigned his position.  The district is actively searching for his replacement. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
