GREENVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – A $40 million expansion of the Whirlpool plant in Greenville is now underway.

Dignitaries joined company leaders Wednesday morning to break ground on the new operations.

The expansion nearly doubles the size of the current facility. It will allow for Whirlpool to grow its KitchenAid brand of small appliances.

It should also produce an additional 400 jobs by 2018.

That will bring Whirlpool’s total workforce to about 1,400 employees.
