DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Police have one person in custody following a deadly shooting in Dayton.
Homicide detectives were dispatched to the 1500 block of Roosevelt Avenue around 12 a.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Dontae Palmer had been shot at least once.
The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries where he later died.
Police believe the incident stemmed from an earlier incident.
“It appears that in the initial investigation, from talking with some people out here, that the two subjects might have had an altercation maybe about a week ago and it spilled over again tonight to this street between the two same individuals,” Sgt. Justin Poe said.
Police have arrested 35-year-old Martin Carr in connection with the case.
Carr faces possible charges of murder.
He is expected in court Monday.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
