Vigil held for man caught in middle of gunfire

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Friends and family of a shooting victim pray for peace and an end to violence Saturday afternoon.

A prayer vigil was held at 12 p.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of North Main Street at the site where Charles Burnett Jr., was killed.

The 32-year-old was shot and killed outside of the Ashwood Lounge July 27. A verbal altercation escalated to gunfire and Burnett was caught in the crossfire between two shooters.

Saturday, members from the community and local law enforcement officers came together to remember Burnett and pray to stop the violence.

Police have identified one of the gunmen in the shooting that killed Burnett. The suspect was injured in the gunfire that night. Officers are still looking for a second suspect in the shooting.
