DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The owner of a Dayton club is pressing felony vandalism charges after one of its patrons reportedly damaged a light fixture.

Police were called to the Masque nightclub at 34 North Jefferson Street around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and met with the owner and the suspect.

Security guards reported the suspect had been jumping up and hitting the glass cover of a light fixture with his hand. They said the suspect eventually shattered the light.

The suspect originally told police he didn’t break the light and said he was just on the dance floor.

When police reviewed surveillance video from the club which captured the incident, the suspect later admitted to damaging the light.

The owner of the club is expected to press felony charges for criminal damaging. The owner said he’s not sure if the glass cover for the light is still available and if not, he will have to replace all of the lighting in the club. He also wanted the suspect permanently trespassed from the club. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
