Former UD Flyer basketball player found dead

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A former Dayton Flyer basketball player has been found dead.

According to a Louisiana newspaper, Matt Derenbecker was found dead Sunday at a friend’s house in a swimming pool where he was house sitting. Derenbecker was 22 years old.

Derenbecker was a forward for the Flyers and left the program in 2013 when he transferred to UNO. He was from Louisiana, and originally transferred to UD from LSU.

In one season with Dayton, Derenbecker played in 30 games and averaged 4.5 points per game.
