Large fight at Huber Heights bar prompts police response

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) — Police rushed to a Huber Heights bar after a large fight escalates.

Police were called to the Cape Lounge located a 5130 Brandt Pike just after 2 a.m. Sunday on reports of a fight and shots fired.

When crews arrived, they found a very chaotic scene with multiple people fighting. Because of the large disturbance, police dropped a “signal 99″ signifying officers needed assistance, and crews from other jurisdictions in Montgomery County responded to the scene.

Police found a man at Brandt Pike and Kitridge Road who said he had fled the bar after being shot in the chest. The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. The hospital later told police the victim’s injury was consistent with a stab wound and not a gunshot wound as he originally reported.

The victim is identified as Nathan Cannon, 31, of Huber Heights.

Officers said several other people were also injured. Medics were called to the scene to treat the victims hurt in the scuffle.

Police took several people into custody in a dark colored SUV which had fled the scene and was possibly involved in the shooting. The vehicle was found at Brandt Pike and Powell Road. The occupants were detained and a handgun was recovered.

Evidence crews collected shell casings from the scene.

Detectives are still interviewing several people in an attempt to determine exactly what happened.

2 NEWS asked if the lounge had previously been a problem site for police and Lt. Matt Dulaney said, “We’ve had some stabbings and some different things in the bar but its not one of our more popular bars for issues.”

The incident remains under investigation.
