DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police are looking for clues following three separate shootings that are similar in nature.
Officers were patrolling the area of Philadelphia Drive and East Third Street Saturday after 8 p.m. when they were flagged down by a person saying a man had been shot with a pellet gun.
Police met with the victim, identified as 42-year-old Tim Long.
Long told police he was in front of Private Ink tattoo shop in the 2700 block of East Third Street when a maroon Ford Taurus drove by and fired shots. He was hit in the arm. Long said the vehicle continued on East Third Street towards South Smithville Road.
The glass to the front door of the tattoo shop was also shattered by the shots.
Long said he believed the gun was an air-soft pistol shooting pellets.
A medic arrived and treated Long for his injuries.
Police said a similar incident happened at the corner of East Third Street and South Irwin Street. They said a Ford Taurus drove by and fired shots at another victim and a building located at 3026 East Third Street.
While officers were investigating these two incidents, they received a call about another situation at North Main Street and the I-75 overpass. Police said a maroon four door car drove by and fired several shots. The victim, 41-year-old Christopher Carroll was hit by three pellets. Carroll walked to Grandview Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
All three shootings remain under investigation.
