SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) — An armed clerk takes matters into his own hands when a man attempts to rob a carryout.

Sidney Police were called to the City Carryout located at 132 North Ohio Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

A cashier reported a man with a sweat jacket and bandana over his face showed a knife and demanded money. The clerk was armed with a handgun and ordered the suspect to the ground. Police said the suspect complied and the clerk held him until officers arrived.

Brett Copeland, 23, was arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery. Copeland was booked into the Shelby County Jail.

Police believe a second person may be involved who was waiting in a getaway car parked nearby. The car is described as a silver two door vehicle.

Sidney Police do not believe this attempted robbery was connected with the recent rash of robberies in the Piqua and Sidney area.
