GREENVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – The Darke County Sheriff’s Office is increasing safety initiatives at the Darke County Fair.  Deputies unveiled their plans Thursday on the eve of opening day.

Sheriff’s deputies will announce how they plan to keep fairgoers safer at this year’s event.

The plan includes better practices at the fairgrounds entrance where people walk across the street to enter the fair.

There will be increased visibility of the crosswalk outside Gate 1 and well marked lanes for traffic pattern changes in front of the fairgrounds.

Several state and county departments are working together to increase safety at the fair.

More safety plans will be announced Thursday morning.

The fair begins August 15 through August 23.
