TROY, Ohio (WDTN) – A shoplifting suspect was arrested in Miami County with an unusual tool of the trade.

Deputies say they stopped Shamon Smith, 43, of Louisville, Kentucky for a traffic violation in Concord Township.

They say they found $5,000 worth of stolen clothes and so-called booster bags inside her car.

Booster bags are lined with material that prevents store security scanners from going off when a person leaves the store.

Smith is being held in the Miami County Jail on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools. Deputies also say they found pot and paraphernalia in the car, so she faces drug charges as well.

Investigators believe the clothes were stolen from department stores in Michigan.
