Who’s watching out for you when you walk in here?

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Construction is nearly finished at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, but the buildings aren’t the only things being put in place.

With a little more than two weeks until its grand opening, we wanted to know what’s being done by Hollywood Gaming to make sure you’re safe when you walk in and when you walk out.

“We’ll have a security vehicle on site at all times and we’re looking to do a bike patrol as well,” says General Manager Gary DeWitt.

DeWitt says the site will have its own security force which has for the most part been hired already.

But at times when it expects big crowds — like its Grand Opening — it will ask Dayton Police for help with some of its off-duty officers.

So who pays for that extra security?

“We would sign an agreement with the city of Dayton and pay those wages,” DeWitt says.

DeWitt says they’re working on that agreement now. We wanted to know how often police have to respond to Hollywood Gaming’s other facilities.

“As with other situations there may be a one off from time to time but I’m comfortable that our security staff is trained well enough to handle these situations but also with the cooperation and communication with the police department,” DeWitt says.

The Grand Opening is set for August 28 with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. The facility is expected to be open to the public by 1 p.m.
