Boy crashes his scooter into mail truck

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A child riding his scooter crashed into a mail truck in Springfield Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the boy, who they say is 7 or 8-years old, was riding along Cheviot Hills Drive around 3:30 p.m. They say he was not paying close attention and struck the truck.

Police say the mail truck driver told them he was slowing down, thinking the boy saw him, but he didn’t.

The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment of chest and leg injuries.  His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A woman at the scene was also removed to the hospital after having difficulty breathing.
