MIAMI TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – A car crashed into a telephone pole early Wednesday morning sending two people to the hospital.

It happened around 1:00 a.m. in the 1000 block of Jamaica Road in Miami Township.

Police say four people were in the car when the driver rounded a curve too fast and lost control.

Police say none of the passengers were wearing seat belts.

They say one victim flew from the back seat into the windshield.

“Seat belts are extremely important for your own safety. No matter how you feel about the law, it’s what keeps you in your seat when you crash. And I think this is a good example of that. The front seat passenger is pretty banged up and i would attribute all of that to not wearing a seat belt,” said Sgt. Paul Nienhaus, Miami Twp. Police Department.

Police say the driver will likely be cited for speeding and failure to control.

She is being tested for drugs and alcohol as well. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
