TROY, Ohio (WDTN) – A new four-legged crime fighter is now on patrol in Miami County.

Bear and his handler, Deputy Will Roberts, completed several weeks of training and received state certification.

They are now qualified to assist drug investigations, but they will also be involved in crime prevention programs and public relations.

Roberts and Bear take over for Deputy Tina Waymire and her canine, Nero.

Nero is recovering well from recent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. He is enjoying retirement in the care of Waymire, who continues on the force.
