CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – A new effort by local law enforcement hopes to keep keep you safe behind the wheel.

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign kicks off Friday and runs through September 1.

Local police officers will be targeting drunk drivers as an effort to save lives.

They say the campaign works.  “We found over the years that this concentrated effort in enforcement and awareness is making a difference,” said Officer John Davis, Centerville Police Department.

Here’s proof of that difference. There were no fatal alcohol related crashes in Montgomery County during Labor Day weekend last year.

Watch for several OVI checkpoints to be set up in the area in the next two weeks.
