Dayton man guilty in death of 8-year-old boy

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton man was found guilty Friday in the death of his girlfriend’s son in a car crash.

Jerimy Rowland, 37, pleaded no contest. He was charged with vehicular homicide and child endangering.

The crash happened in October 2013 on Geneva Road in Dayton. Rowland ran a stop sign, colliding with another car.

The crash killed 8-year-old La’kell Newland.

Sentencing is set for September 5. He faces up to 11 years in prison.
