Teen’s apparent joy ride takes a turn for the worse

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – A 14-year-old is getting an early lesson in the rules of the road.

Police in Huber Heights say an officer spotted a vehicle driving on Fisher Rd. with its headlights off around 12:30 a.m. Friday. When the officer tried to stop the car, police say the driver turned into the Glenburn Green Apartments on Bufort Blvd.

The car sped up, went over a hill and crashed into the rental office and maintenance building.

Police say a 14-year-old boy was behind the wheel. He apparently took the keys to his mother’s car while she was sleeping.

No one was hurt.

The rental office will be closed while repairs are made.
