DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man is behind bars after a woman said he broke into her home while she and her sons and nephew were inside.

Erick Lizardo, 20, was arrested on charges of burglary.

Officers were called to a home in the 3900 block of Cain Court around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The victim’s 13-year-old son told police he got up in the middle of the night to get a drink when he spotted Lizardo in the hallway. The teen said he and his other brother and his cousin told Lizardo to get out of the house. He said Lizardo was highly intoxicated and carrying a beer bottle.

The victim was awoken by her sons and nephew, and the four of them were reportedly able to get Lizardo out of the house. They then called police.

The victim told officers she knew Lizardo but their friendship fell apart after he wrecked her car. She said she had not seen him since January and he was not invited to her home. She said she didn’t know how Lizardo broke into her house, but she feared for the safety of her sons and nephew.

Police caught up with Lizardo at the Gateway Men’s Shelter about 30 minutes after the reported break-in. He was arrested and booked into jail.
