DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man reportedly threw a beer bottle at an officer after he refused to comply with orders.

Michael Casey was arrested on charges of felonious assault, assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest.

Police were called to the 200 block of Indiana Avenue before 11:30 p.m. Saturday on reports of a disorderly man with a wespon.

When officers arrived, they said they spotted Casey with one hand in his pocket and holding a 40 oz. glass beer bottle in his other hand. Officers told Casey to take his hand out of his pocket and drop the beer bottle. Police said he took his hand out of his pocket but ignored officers’ commands to drop the bottle and instead drank from it while he continued to walk through the yard. Officers ordered Casey to drop the bottle several more times but he refused. According to the police report, Casey told police “You’re gonna have to shoot me.”

Police said when they reached out to grab Casey, he threw the bottle at an officer hitting him. Officers said Casey resisted as they tried to handcuff him.

Officials stated they found a loaded gun in Casey’s pocket.

Police spoke with Casey’s ex-girlfriend who said Casey had come to the house earlier in the evening intoxicated and saying he was suicidal and bought a gun to kill himself. She told police he hit her several times in the head.

Casey was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
