Report: Man assaults girlfriend in Denny’s parking lot

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man was arrested for reportedly assaulting and threatening his girlfriend in the Denny’s parking lot.

Donald Boyd, 59, was arrested on charges of assault and aggravated menacing.

Officers were called to Denny’s at 1136 South Main Street just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Boyd’s girlfriend said she and Boyd were drinking heavily at a grill-out at Boyd’s brother’s house on Vine Street. The victim said Boyd asked his brother to get crack cocaine but his brother refused and asked them both to leave. The victim said when they left, Boyd became angry and an argument ensued. The victim said that when she and Boyd reached the parking lot behind Denny’s, the argument escalated and Boyd pulled out a knife and threatened to cut her neck. The victim told police Boyd then pushed her to the ground and punched her in the face.

Police caught up with Boyd on Jasper Street. He was booked into jail.

Police are checking with Denny’s to see if the incident was caught on surveillance video.
