DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A 26year old Dayton man attacks two Montgomery County officers before he gets booked into the jail.

Melvin Brown was already in trouble for assault and felonious assault when he was in a holding area ready for booking. He had gotten into a tussle with deputies earlier last Friday when he decided to leap over a counter and attack two deputies.

It took five other deputies to wrestle him to the floor, but not before he had injured the first two.

Sheriff Phil Plummer says that altercation put Brown in worse trouble. He is now facing assault and felonious assault on a police officer.

Plummer says his employees need to be more vigilant because they are dealing with people who have mental illnesses and drug and alcohol abuse. He also indicated he would like to see a special designed area to protect his employees who are in the booking area. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
