DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man wanted for an armed robbery and assault was arrested early Monday after a standoff with police.

Dayton Lt. Andrew Booher says officers were patrolling in the area of Dover St. around 10:45 p.m. Sunday when they spotted Ivan Jackson, Jr. sitting on a porch. The officers knew there was a warrant out for Jackson, but say when they tried to approach Jackson, he ran inside the house.

Officers knocked on the door and say at first no one answered. Then Jackson’s brother, girlfriend and a friend came out, but insisted Jackson was not inside.

Police called in SWAT to block off streets in the neighborhood as officers continued to try to make contact with Jackson.

Around 2:00 a.m., Jackson came out of the house with his hands up.

Lt. Booher says at least two of the people who were with Jackson face charges of obstruction.

Jackson will now be charged with obstructing justice and resisting arrest in addition to felonious assault and aggravated robbery. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
