MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – Butler County Children Services employees are on strike.

More than 1,000 families are affected by the strike.

WLWT-TV is reporting that about 120 employees are asking for a raise that the county says it cannot afford.

About 120 social workers are walking the picket line.

One employee told WLWT the strike is not what they hoped for.

“Every single worker out there has cried, they’re devastated by this, they do not want this. Now, more than 1,000 Butler County families will be affected,” union president Rebecca Palmer said.

The county is working with other agencies to try and get temporary help for the children during the strike.
