Court-Gavel

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – A local man heading to trial pleaded guilty instead.

Byron Mansley pleaded to felonious assault and extortion charges.

He was set to go on trial Monday.

Prosecutors say he and Callie Yip contracted with a man to do yard work.

They say Mansley beat the worker when he didn’t perform his job correctly. Some attacks were carried out using a metal pipe.

Yip is already serving an 18-month sentence.

Mansley’s sentencing day is pending.
