HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – A family stranded at a Huber Heights Walmart is now staying at a homeless shelter.

We told you about the veteran and his family over the weekend. The story is tugging on a lot of heartstrings. It is one of WDTN.com’s most clicked.

The family’s car broke down on the way home to Oklahoma.

They didn’t have enough money to fix it, so they’ve been sitting in the parking lot.

Several area groups have now stepped up to the help the family.

They are now being housed in a homeless shelter.

The makeshift group Operation Tulsa is raising funds to help.

One of wounded vet’s three children has autism, so the Dayton Autism Society is also now involved.

Amvets has also reached out to the family.

We’ll let you know when they are back on the road home to Oklahoma.
