Crime Stoppers Report: Searching for a killer

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – It’s now been nearly four years, but Dayton police still believe there is someone out there who knows how and why a 62-year-old woman was killed.

Friends have left flowers outside the Wyoming street apartment of 62-year-old Charlotte Morris after learning of her death in the early morning hours of October 18.

“My heart just went to my stomach because there’s no reason why anybody should have done what they did to that woman,” said her friend, Beth Peterman.

Because Morris had a number of medical problems, a former boyfriend, Karl, would call each day to check on her. When he couldn’t get a hold of her for three days, he called police.

“When I talked to her Monday, she seemed like she was almost incoherant. Because like, when I was talking to her she was obsessed about trying to get her shoes on, and she couldn’t get her shoes on,” said Karl.

Three days after that last phone call, police found Morris lying on the floor in her apartment severely beaten and bruised.

Friends told 2 NEWS Morris did have a lot of prescription pills like Vicodin and Xanax in her apartment, but so far, police have not released a motive for this crime.

Homicide detectives do believe there is a possibility that Charlotte Morris knew her attacker so there may be others out there with this information as well.
