BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) – Firefighters continue to battle hot spots after fire caused extensive damage to one of the buildings at the Stonebridge Apartments Homes in Beavercreek Tuesday night, leaving as many as 20 people without a home.
Beavercreek firefighters were called to 4502 Stonecastle Dr. just before 7:30 and arrived to find heavy smoke and flames pouring from the three story building located just south of The Greene.
“We had people knocking on our door saying ‘get out get out, this is not a fire drill,'” said resident Frank McFadden. “We left as quickly as possible.”
Property managers said the fire damaged 18 units and everyone from the apartments are accounted for.
Two dogs were rescued from the burning building, but firefighters said there are likely other pets that did not survive.
Investigators have not said what caused the fire.
Fire crews from Bellbrook, Kettering, and Sugarcreek Township were called for mutual aid assistance.
