SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – Grief counselors will be at the Springfield School District’s convocation today in light of a drowning at Buck Creek Monday.

They will also be available at Snyder Park Wednesday when school starts for the new year.

Investigators told 2 NEWS the boy, Collin Jenkins, 9, and three other children were sliding down a dam into the arms of a man who was waiting to catch them at the bottom.

They said one child slid down and was with the adult when a second child slid down, making all three slip into the water.

The adult and one child made it safely to shore. Jenkins did not resurface.
