OAKWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – An Oakwood man is in trouble for shooting a deer with a crossbow.

Police say the man admitted that he fired two arrows at the deer after becoming frustrated over damage it did to his landscaping.

A neighbor alerted police after spotting the injured deer running across the street.

“Hunting calls are very rare in Oakwood, maybe once every two, three or four years,” said Director of Public Safety Alex Bebris. “We understand that wildlife can damage expensive landscaping, but hunting in Oakwood is not the solution.”

It is against the law to hunt in the city of Oakwood and discharge any weapon in the city.

The crossbow carrying resident is charged with hunting and weapons violations.

The deer did not survive.
