MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – The City of Middletown and the fire department union have reached a tentative deal on a new contract.

What that means about layoffs is still to be seen.

11 firefighters are scheduled to be laid off August 30.

Union representative Chris Krug tells 2 NEWS that all union members must sign off on the deal before it is made public.

The vote date is pending.

City budget woes already caused the closing of Fire Station 84 on Tytus Avenue.
