DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A motorcycle rider was seriously hurt in a crash along South Smithville Road Wednesday afternoon.
Police identify him as James Calhoun, 34, who was listed in critical condition as of Thursday afternoon.
What’s more, officers say a Dayton school bus driver drove around a police officer blocking the street.
Police believe the motorcycle was north on Smithville when a car pulled in front of it at Tuttle Avenue. They say the driver laid his bike down. The rider then slid underneath a truck.
Officers say his injuries are serious.
Traffic was stopped at the scene for some time, including a Dayton Public School bus.
Police say the driver waited for awhile, then proceeded to go around the scene, narrowly missing a police officer who was stepping off a curb.
The driver faces charges of reckless operation, driving on a closed road and failure to yield to a police officer.
2 NEWS called the Dayton Public Schools about the incident. The district says it will wait until it investigates the citation to make any kind of disciplinary ruling against the driver.
