INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Cody Cousins, the Centerville native accused of killing a fellow student on Purdue University’s campus last winter, pleaded guilty Thursday.

The shooting on Purdue’s campus in January left 21-year-old senior Andrew Boldt dead.  Both men were engineering students.

Cousins is a 2008 graduate of Springboro High School.  The high school principal remembered Cousins shortly after the shooting.  He told 2 NEWS Cousins was a good student who was very involved in school activities.

Cousins walked into a classroom on January 21, firing off four or five shots.  He then walked outside and calmly turned himself in to police officers.

Cousins’ defense attorney had said in May he would pursue an insanity defense. Tippecanoe Superior Court bailiff Brenda Rody says the judge will decide the issue of Cousins’ mental state during a sentencing hearing set for September 19.
