PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) – Troopers are stepping up enforcement along a stretch of I-75 from Piqua to Sidney.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says it asked for the patrols after a number of crashes in construction zones.

Troopers say the crashes were due to speed and improper lane changes.

Ramping up patrols on I-75 from Piqua to Sidney is paying off.

ODOT has been working with the Ohio Department of Public Safety to make construction zones safer.

They say there is a decrease in the number of crashes since the inception of the Work Zone Enforcement program that started in 2004. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
