Man cashes check, robbed at gunpoint

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man was robbed at gunpoint just minutes after he cashed a check.

The victim told police he cashed his payroll check at Sam’s Market in the 3500 block of East Third Street around 12:30 p.m. Friday. He said there were three men and two women behind him when he cashed the check.

He said on his way home, he walked through Washington Park and three men approached him, put a handgun to his head, and demanded cash.

The victim stated he handed him $640, his cell phone, house keys, and a beer he bought. The suspects ran east on Second Street.

Officers are hoping to review surveillance video from inside Sam’s Market.
