Shooting in Dayton turns deadly

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Montgomery Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in a shooting Saturday morning.

DeAngelo Dewberry, 25, died of gunshot wounds according to officials.

Dayton Police are investigating the deadly shooting.

It happened in the 4700 block of Stratsburg Drive around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, the suspect shot the victim twice in the torso and then fled the scene.

“One of them shot the other one twice, fled the scene. When we got here the one was down on the street. He was talking to us, medics removed him to the hospital. Unfortunately, at the hospital he passed,” Sgt. Bill Keller explained.

The male suspect remains on the run.

Officers spent Saturday morning gathering information and trying to learn what the relationship was between the two men.

But they say the Stratsburg neighborhood is not one they’re often called to, especially for this type of crime.

“Super neighborhood. We– I– we don’t come out here at all, it doesn’t seem like. Good people, very helpful, talking to us out here. Very cooperative,” the sergeant said.

Police say they still don’t know what caused the fatal end to Dewberry’s life.

Officers are still looking for the suspect.

Dayton Police are still investigating.
