DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man is behind bars after police were called to a home for ethnic intimidation when vehicles and the front door of a home was damaged.
Dylan Ball, 22, was arrested on charges of vandalism and burglary.
Police were called to the 1400 block of Ray Street after 3 a.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found two vehicles in the front of the home damaged and the front door kicked in.
The victim told police he woke up when he heard glass breaking and people outside his home yelling things about Turkish and Russian people. He said he then heard the alarm sound on his 2003 Maserati that was parked on the street. When he looked outside, he saw a man running from the front of his home.
A neighbor reported seeing a man and a woman throwing potted plants at the two vehicles. Police reported all of the windows in the victim’s Maserati had been shattered and most of the windows on his Mercedes.
When officers were talking to a neighbor, the neighbor pointed out the woman suspect and told police that she was the one damaging vehicles.
The reported suspect came down the street and spoke with officers telling them her vehicle was hit by one of the damaged vehicles. She stated the “Russians” hit her car and fled the scene. Police noted there was no damage to either vehicle consistent with the crash that damaged the suspect’s vehicle.
While speaking with her about her vehicle, Ball came out from a home to report what he saw. Ball told police a black car hit the woman’s car and then fled.
When talking with Ball, police noticed he had dried blood on his hands. Ball told police he punched a wall, but officers noticed a trail of blood leading to the victim’s home and the two damaged vehicles.
Ball was arrested and booked into jail.
