Victim jumps out of moving vehicle during robbery attempt

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man is recovering after jumping out of a moving vehicle during an armed robbery attempt.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of Shaftesbury Road around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The victim said he met a man in the parking lot of a pawn shop on Salem Avenue. The suspect told the victim he had a brand new television he wanted to sell. The victim was interested in the offer so he followed the suspect to the corner of Prescott Drive and Shaftesbury Road and parked his vehicle. The victim said he got out of his car and got into the suspect’s SUV to look at the television. The suspect then drove off. The victim said the suspect then pulled a knife on him as they were driving.

The victim jumped out of the moving SUV at Shaftesbury Road and Otterbein Avenue to avoid being harmed. The victim then called police.

The suspect got away with the victim’s cell phone.

The victim was taken to Grandview Hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained when jumping out of the vehicle.
