DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police are investigating a home invasion after the suspects flee and one of them returns.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of Auburn Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

A woman told police she was at home with her children when she heard a noise coming from her back door. When she went to investigate, she saw two men trying to break in. When the suspects saw the woman, they fled the scene.

The victim said she went immediately upstairs to check on her children. When she went back downstairs, she spotted one of the men trying to get inside again. She told police she pulled the door closed on his arm and a struggle ensued. The suspect grabbed her by the front of her shirt tearing it and pulling her into the door. The suspect eventually let go and pulled his arm out of the door and ran into an alley.

Officers observed the outside storm door had been forced open. They also noticed the window of the inside door leading to the kitchen was also broken.

Police are still investigating.
