SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dole Food Company is growing and that means new jobs.

The company announced a three year plan Monday that adds three new packaging lines and a processing line to the facility at 600 Benjamin Drive.

It will add 140 new jobs and keep the 600 already there.

“Having a national brand the likes of Dole expanding in Clark County is a great endorsement for our community,” said Clark County Commission President Rick Lohnes. “We are happy Clark County will continue to benefit from their growth and success.”

The $9-million expansion will allow the company to produce items like spinach, spring mixes and baby lettuce packages. Those are new product lines for the Springfield plant.

“Our Springfield facility was the best location for us to expand and add this new
capacity,” said John Lochra, plant manager. “This investment will add new capabilities to our Springfield operations allowing us to supply the northeastern portion of the United States more efficiently.”

Dole is one of the world’s leading producers of fresh fruit and vegetable sales.
