MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – A family attending the Montgomery County Fair is donating hogs for ALS.
“When you been married to someone body for 30 years, and now they can’t even turn a page in a book by themselves. I say it very important to us,” said Dave Wetzel, whose wife has ALS.
Marlin Seymour with the ALS Association local chapter said she is thankful for the family’s contribution.
The family said each hog can sell for about $10,000 at the county fair.
“We were really struck by the generosity of the Wetzel family being willing to do this. This is the second year in a row they have done this,” said Seymour.
The Wetzels are also gearing up to for the ALS walk at the Fairborn Community Park September 14th. They’re running as Team Pumpkin to raise even more awareness.
Through their fight, the Wetzels hope others suffering from the disease will have to endure less.
“I know it probably won’t help our situation but maybe it will help somebody down the road. That maybe they can find a cure for this disease,” said Wetzel.
