DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A hog donated to raise money for ALS research is a grand champion.

2 NEWS spoke with the Wetzel family Friday who tell us the hog won the grand champion prize at the Montgomery County Fair.

Susan Wetzel suffers from the disease herself, but that doesn’t stop her from raising money to find a cure.

She has raised more than $6,500 dollars for ALS so far.

Her family is also raising money to participate in an ALS walk in Fairborn on September 14.

Team Pumpkin, as they call themselves, is up to nearly $13,000 in donations. They are leading the pack in donations.

The ALS Walk is set for 11:00 a.m. at Fairborn’s Community Park on Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
