Gun shop bursts into flames causing ammo to ignite

LEWISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – Fire fighters battled a large fire at a local gun shop Friday afternoon. The fire started off of US 40 in Lewisburg around 1 p.m.

Investigators told 2 NEWS the owner of the shop was mowing the grass when he smelled smoke.

He went to the front entrance, opened the door and saw flames.

When fire fighters arrived they said they could hear the ammunition going off, but said there was not any serious threat.

The local fire department had to dispatch extra help from other agencies, and they managed to quickly put the fire out.

No one was hurt in the fire, but authorities said there about $200,000 worth of damage.
