Out of control college party prompts police response

MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) — Police are called to a reported college party at a Moraine hotel after it got out of control.

Police were initially called to the Moraine Inn & Suites located at 2455 Dryden Road around 12:20 a.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, they found several people unconscious in the parking lot. Police said they appeared to have been in a fight. While officers were investigating the assault, police detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the hotel.

Officers said they found a large party of about 200 to 300 people inside. Officials broke up the party and asked everyone to leave.

Some people did not leave the scene willingly, and fighting broke out. Some were arrested for disorderly conduct.

A signal 99 was dropped to signal officers needed help and additional agencies responded including the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy from the sheriff’s office was punched and assaulted by two people while she was trying to clear people from the scene. She suffered minor injuries.

Police said three people were taken into custody.

Witnesses on scene told police the party was intended as college ice-breaker kickoff.

Officers are still investigating.
