Three injured after troopers say semi failed to yield

JAMESTOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – Three people, including a child, are rushed to the hospital after a semi hits their vehicle.

The crash happened at the intersection of Route 72 and I-71 Saturday morning just south of Jamestown.

Troopers say a tractor trailer failed to stop at a stop sign before striking an SUV.

All three people in the vehicle are expected to be okay.

Troopers say the crash could have been much worse.

“It was at a low speed because he was pulling away from a stop sign,” said Trooper Bryan Cook with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. “It probably reduced the severity. Also, the guardrail was struck which likely reduced the severity of the crash as well.”

The driver of the truck, from Indiana, was not injured. Troopers say it is likely he will be cited.
