Police investigate after 2 shot

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police are investigating after two people were shot.

Police said they received calls around 5:20 p.m. Monday on reports of shots fired on Southshore Drive. Police believe it may have been an apparent home invasion.

They said a short time later, they received a call about a traffic accident at the intersection of Brandt Pike and Harshman Road, not far from the area where the shooting took place. Police think the incidents are related and believe one of the people involved in the shooting was fleeing the scene and caused the accident.

Officers report the person who caused the crash ended up at Burger King on Brandt Pike. Police said he had been shot once and had several firearms in his possession.

Another person suffered a gunshot wound. Both victims were taken to separate hospitals and were said to be stable.

Officers are still trying to piece together what happened.
