DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – As late as 4:30 Thursday afternoon, a jury in a Montgomery County courtroom was still debating whether Anthony Stargell is guilty of murder.
Stargell is on trial for the 2012 murder of Tom Nickles.
Jurors were trying to decide if Stargell intentionally killed Nickles or did so in self defense.
The bodies of Stargell and his Golden Retriever were found in a burned garage in the 800 block of South Main Street in Dayton. Police said Stargell set the fire to hide the evidence of the murder.
Surveillance video showed Stargell making off with cash, guns and a television.
