Flames force family out of Huber Heights home

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) — A Huber Heights family is staying elsewhere after flames force them out of their home.

Firefighters were called to the 6100 block of Alter Road after 4 a.m. Saturday.

When crews arrived, they found flames and smoke shooting from the garage.

According to officials, the family was asleep at the time and woken by the smell of smoke. Officials said once the mother detected the fire, she got everyone out of the home safely.

Crews were able to quickly contain the flames.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said the home was heavily damaged in the fire, but no word on the costs of the damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
