HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) — A free day of outdoor learning for students and their families brought folks out to a Huber Heights park.
Crowds fought off a little bit of rain showers at Shullgate Park Saturday afternoon for “STEM Day in the Park.”
Organizers said the event gives kids the opportunity to learn subjects like science, technology, engineering, and math in an open environment.
Robotics, compressed air vehicles, and rockets were just some of the features students could get their hands on.
“Students come together to use these disciplines blended, to build something or discover something,” said project director Kathleen Bledsoe. “We have all kinds of things going on where students and their parents was come along and try it out. It’s not the entire lesson, it’s just to get your feet wet.”
Bledsoe said events like this help kids who feel inhibited or intimidated in the classroom learn and find out what they’re interests are.
