MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — Police report a man arrested in a woman’s fatal shooting says the gun went off when he tried to grab it after she allegedly started playing Russian roulette.
Middletown police said Monday that 19-year-old Deangelo Jones is charged in the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Amanda Blevins. The Middletown woman was shot Saturday and died Sunday.
The police statement says the Middletown man told them he and Blevins were preparing to play Russian roulette when he left the room and she started without him. Police report Jones said he grabbed the gun and it went off, striking Blevins.
Police say Jones is charged with counts including involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. Court records don’t show an attorney for Jones.
Authorities recovered a gun they say Jones threw into a river.
